TURN YOUR CRAFT INTO YOUR ACTING BUSINESS.

You got a degree in acting-now what? You got a callback for The Goodspeed-now what? You landed a Day Player role on Law & Order---now what? You got a great legit agent-now what? Well, it's time to organize yourself, work smarter not harder, and change the "now what" to "know how." This has nothing to do with craft, but all about your business skills and the business of acting. You are your own business and you are your product.

No matter what you do for a living- actor, painter, accountant, dog walker- we are all in the business of Marketing. If you are not marketing yourself, how can you expect anyone to know who you are, what you do, and what you offer that's unique? We read and hear a lot about marketing for actors. However, before we market oursleves, we need to know our brand.

As actors, I have to say, we actually have three jobs:

Branding-- Marketing & Building Relationships-- Maintaining Craft

There are five ways to go about Marketing & Building Relationships:

1. Targeted Mailings - read How Mailings Got Us 8 Agents under Mailings Service.
2. Paying for seminars or classes where industry people teach.
3. Auditions--immediately sending thank you cards and follow up postcards.
4. Ask others for introductions or referrals.
5. Enriching your Support System.

Before you build your relationships, by any of the means above, it is vital to know who you are, where you want to be, how you are going to get there, why do you want it, and what are you going to give back to society--solidifying your Acting Goals will help you Market and Brand yourself effectively.
